Camp Reflection by Lucan Flynn [6H]

The camp was really good and I couldn't imagine year 6 without it.

We first arrived at the base and it was loud like crazy. everyone was so excited and I could not wait to see my group. All the kids grouped up we the instructors and listened to the big boss speech. The instructor were Gladwin and Jeremy. We then went outside to to a group photo

Then are group got changed into our swimming togs, met at the beach and started to make a raft.

That was one of my favorite activities although we struggled it was challenging.

After we finished making our raft we went ahead and had lunch. All of us helped each other and made the table. and cleaned up after all of us.
Over all it was really fun and I had a great time with new friends and teachers
But Mr Heggie still had a bad hair day just saying

Camp reflection by Enoch

Day 1

On the first day of camp I took the bus to OBHK and I felt excited but it didn't turn out very well.I was in the group called Messner and my instructors were Michal and Sam . First of all our group had a few issues because some people did the wrong things or were being lazy. We were sent to our rooms and we had to make our beds and unpack our suitcases. I was in room S1 with Dicky,Kabelan,Chester,Yekin, Dipthanshu,Allen,Will,Cameron,

Matteao,empty bed no.1,empty bed no.2 and ME!!!!!!!!!!

When I went to bed that night i felt annoyed that we didn't do any water activities  while Hillary did. :(

Day 2

I woke up at 5:30 and I heard some people talking in the room. I had a terrible night and did not sleep well.

Aound 6.15, Dippy told us to come with him and see if the girls were awake and sure enough they were! The windows were made of frosted glass so they got some water and wrote GO AWAY BOYS!!!!!!!! so my friends and I stayed there and talked about random stuff.

We had breakfast and it felt weird to see everyone in normal clothes instead of the usual uniforms.

We did some games like one where we had to get every one through a rope in the shortest amount of time we got 35 seconds.

We also played a game where we  were only allowed to say yadda and we had to hold stools on two legs in a circle and move around by keeping the stools in two legs and we could only touch one stool at a time!!!!!

After that we changed and it started raining heavily and we crawled through a sewer that was about 80cm in height and length!!!

Then we had to swim in the freezing water while it was raining but it wasn't that bad.

Day 3

Today we had to take only a few things and took a bus to a camp site. We then set up a tent and went on a 5 hour hike in Ma On Shan. It was a lot of fun! One boy thought he was going to die. He shouted  "I AM on 10% OF MY ENERGY ! I'M GOING TO DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Day 4

we just packed our suitcases and took the bus back to school. I was a bit sad to leave after such a fun few days.

Camp Reflection

Camp Reflection
I am Matthew Sifontes and this is my camp reflection of when I went to camp in Y6. now before I get into perfect detail let me get in the base of things. In my eyes came was the most fun I've ever had but for those fore days I missed my brother and my parents. But it was still so much fun. Mostly because i got to hang out with my friends and made some to. OK  now I'm going to get into more detail of what happened. we had a lot of activities like building rafts, doing hikes, finding areas around the camp and a lot more. My Favorite was the hike and on that hike I really enjoyed it. because those are the things I like to do. There were so many things I liked about camp and it was just a lot fun. Over all I had a extremely fun time and I hope I can go back soon.
camp reflection part 2 continued Enoch
stinky and  we got junk in our cloths but other than that i didn't learn any thing.
:P :) :(

Camp Reflection

Camp or, OBHK, was excellent! We did many fun (some annoying) activities! In my group, we didn't do the rafting or kayaking... BUT, we did other fun things like, crawling down a tunnel! We took many risks like, *flashback sound* when I was hiking Ma On Shan, 702m high, my ankle started 'cramping' (38 days ago)    but I still carried on (it was fine, don't worry).  We were also caring too, because *flashback sound*  one of our group members, helped me got a walking stick when I was hiking and somebody else in the group guided me (by telling where to place your foot) and so after that, it made us open-minded.  We were also communicators because *flashback sound* the instructor, Michal (from Slovakia, Bratislava, it's capital city) told us we have to keep the stools only on two legs and do it in a circle, we were only allowed to say "Yadda.", which makes it harder.  We managed to do this in about approx. NINE times... Our team was also knowledgeable because *flashback sound* we thought of a solution of finishing the 'yadda' game by saying 'yadda' four times dramatically indicating we are about to switch chairs, thus, also making us thinkers.  I learnt how to make your own tents, how to push somebody up a pontoon and how to communicate in a awkward language.  So, after this speech, this makes me a reflective for remembering this moment.

We're READY for camp!!

I think camp was a blast a bit edgy some times but it was fun. My team was called Mandela we didn't want to change the name of our group Mandela is a cool name.

Anyway I was in a group with" Anya,Harrison,Anwen,Daniela,Harry,Will,Carol,
Jade,Sal and Ben. Are group leaders were called ShaShi(no space in between)and Marcus. My favorite activity was making the raft, I didn't like ridding it because Anwen kept pushing Daniela back and Daniela pushed me back so I nearly fell of the bamboo into the water, the water was terribly cold it was like 2 degrees!!(that is cold right!)

Over all I loved camp it was a great hit but I was happy to go home at the end of it:)

This is my group .We always work together and sometimes we get mixed up when we do stuff. The people that was Archita, Sam, Catherine, Christie-Ann, Gus, Conrad, Hrshita, Jasmine, Johnathan, Ellie, Lucian and Jasper. Also My instructors where Jeremy.M and Glad-win.Sometimes we fight in the dorms or while we work but we always  forget about it.And some times we are afraid to do somthing and we start to cry but we comfort them so they will be OK.

Camp reflection by Max Yuen 6H

A crazy game of hockey here with brooms, dustpans and dirt. I liked year 5 camp better than year 6 camp, but I still thought that this camp was good. My favorite part of camp was hiking to the camp site at Wong Shek Pier. The part that amazed me the most was seeing a monkey at Wong Shek Pier. I was proud of myself when I found out that I could finish the final challenges easily with my whole group. Next time, I would try to improve my group work so that I can solve team challenges a lot more easily.

Camp Reflection

I was a risk-taker because I did the solo night walk.
I was a communicator because I shared some ideas.
I was open-minded because I didn't want to do the solo night walk but when I finished I was proud of myself.
One attitude was cooperation because we all need to help pitch the tent up.
I liked playing Monkey ball and Ninja because they're fun. I didn't like the water sports because it was freezing of sleeping in the tent because it was uncomfortable. Next time I would remember where I put my things.

Year 6 Camp Reflection
4th-7th of December

I was in the group Hillary and my instructors name was Rhino. Rhino was very mean but I understood what he was trying to do. I thought the activities were great especially the rafting. The food was horrible apart from breakfast and the lunch on friday. The dorms were great the showers were so hot and my dorm was massive. I personally think camp was great apart from the food and I thank Rhino very much.

Outward Bound Camp Reflection
By Carol Lam (6H)

Camp at Outward Bound was very different to the other camps I had been to. For a start, we didn't see our teachers that often. Instead, we were with our instructors and our teachers popped up every now and then, sometimes at surprisingly early hours.

Another thing that was different was that we were more reliant on ourselves. For example, after our camping trip, we had to wash our tents and water bottles etc. by ourselves. This helped me become more independent.

Also, this camp was very demanding and challenging, both mentally and physically. The activities were sometimes hard to do, such as the four and a half hour hike, which was hard to do because we had to walk in mud and carry very heavy backpacks. Many of the activities were also mentally demanding. I had to push myself to carry on, such as on the night hike.

The sections below further detail my experiences and feelings on camp.

Day 1: 4th December

The first day of camp had an unsurprising undercurrent of excitement and everyone was talking about camp.

The road to camp was slightly rocky and bumpy so that transporting our suitcases was hard. At the entrance of Outward Bound there was a cattle gate, which meant we had to go through a small door to get to camp.

At camp, we first went to the main hall where an instructor called Tom told us about the spirit of Outward Bound. We then took a group photo with the Outward Bound logo.

Our team, Mandela, with one of our instructors, Marcus.

After the group photo, we all had lunch. We then collected a pillowcase and two bedsheets for our beds. We had to make our own beds. I think this helped to train our independence and teamwork because while some people completed their beds quickly, others required help but in the end, everyone completed this successfully.

After our successful making-of-beds, we walked down to a rope course. We were extremely excited. Before we did the rope course, we had to complete a challenge . Marcus had a rope and we all had to jump rope at the same time. This didn't work and I think the reason it didn't work was because we weren't helping each other.

Our rope activity was swinging on a rope from one platform to another. But first, we needed to get the rope. To get the rope, we first tried to throw things at it. That was not successful so I thought of using a shoe tied to a jacket and after a few tries it worked. We managed to get the rope because we reflected on what didn't work before and then we thought of another solution.

The swinging part was exciting. We put one foot in a loop at the bottom of the rope and our hands were grabbing the rope. We all wanted to go again but there wasn't enough time. I thought I was a risk taker when I did this because I had never done it before and I tried it even though I was scared.

Around 5:30 pm, we assembled on a raised platform called the Black Top. We had to do a mini-olympics. This consisted of a few events such as hopping with a (clean) slipper between your knees to cross the Black Top and running to an oar, spinning around with your head on it 6 times and then running back to your team. I was a communicator because I talked to and cheered on the people in my group. I was also caring because I encouraged the people in my group.

The penultimate thing we did on this day was packing the things we would need for our hike the next day. An example of the things we packed were sleeping bags, utensils and backpacks.

Our last activity before we returned to our dorms was to make and decorate an envelope, and to write a reflection of our day.

Day 2 : 5th December

The first thing we did was plan our hike to the campsite where we would spend the night. We worked out a route, which ended at Tai Tam Campsite. Next, we packed a group barrel with all the things we would need while camping out and our own backpacks with the few things we would need on the hike.
We took a number 94 bus to the starting place of our hike.

The instructors and the members of our group waiting for bus number 94.

We started the hike at 11 am and arrived at Tai Tam campsite at around 3:30pm. At the campsite we had to reflect on what we learned on the hike.

We had to put up the tents in mixed groups. I had to be a thinker because I had to think about how to build the tent really well.

After dinner, we went for a night hike. One by one we had to walk up a hill even though we couldn't see anything. We only stopped when we heard Marcus say "We're here," I thought I had to be a risk-taker because this was a scary experience and I had to overcome my fears to do it.

Day 3 : 5th December

We took a bus back to Outward Bound. When we got back, we had to wash the dishes, scrub the water bottles, tents and backpacks and polish the burners. That taught me to be more independent because normally I don't wash things at home but at camp I had to.

                                              Cleaning our supplies

The next activity I did was rock climbing. At first I felt nervous because I was scared I was going to fall. After I completed the activity, I knew that my friends could help me when I was doing activities that required strategy and teamwork. From this activity, I found out that my fear of falling off a climbing wall had been overcome.

After that, we designed a raft out of 4 hollow barrels, 4 big bamboo stems and 4 little bamboo stems. This made me think about safety and engineering. When we had designed our raft, we built it out of our materials. I learned how to tie two new knots and I think that part of our success in building the raft was that we all worked cooperatively without any arguments.

Day 4 : 6th December

On the last day we packed our bags and cleaned up our dorms. This trained my independence too because normally at home I don't sweep and mop the floor.

Our last challenge was to navigate a maze that Marcus and Shashe had designed. We had to be thinkers and use elimination to work out the path. We also had to be communicators because the ones who had already navigated the maze told theirs friends the route so everyone got across. Our reward was ice cream! That was totally unexpected because we didn't even know that Outward Bound had ice cream.

The last thing we did on camp was share our experiences and receive our certificates. Everyone agreed that this camp was both exciting and demanding.

I had a wonderful experience at camp. I learned new things, overcame fears and now I feel like I can do even really hard things if I try hard. Camp was great and I am grateful for the chance to experience this.

My camp reflection

I liked camp.  The best part for me was the hike. It was 4 1/2 hours long.  After the hike we camped. Maddy needed the toilet at night and when Natasha, Maddy and I went out there where tons of stars you usally can not see that was great. I also liked going to Narnia (going down the tunnel).  Sadly we did not get to meet Aslan because the boys in my group killed him apparently.  Anyway camp was good.

(I didn't like the toilets though.)

Camp Reflection
It was our group’s turn to go camping. There was a short road from the “Outward Bound Headquarters” to the camping site that I could probably have run in about 30 minutes, but to make it more of a challenge we had to hike there via a longer route. Most of us were way behind our instructors Shaun and Shi- Wa.

Going up the steep, muddy path was hard work- especially with a 10-kilo backpack, it was hard to walk, let alone climb! (Part of what made the backpacks so heavy was that we were each carrying 3-4 liters of water, we never actually ended up drinking any of it though, so obviously it was just another way to make the hike tougher!).

We clambered up the hill and then, finally, we got to the top (at least of that path). There was a Chinese Temple up here - with lions carved out of stone on either side of the red door, with golden studs on it. Oli and me thought it must be the “Holy Temple of Fitness” or something, but then somebody said that the Chinese people put it there so it was closer to the heavens and all of the Gods.

Since we were exhausted we were allowed to stop and eat on the steps of the temple. We had brought some the things needed to make a sandwich. We all happily sat down and had lunch. Then it was time to move on, but now we had to do something much worse! The next part didn’t have a path, it was just a jungle. At first there were some stones and a few odd branches that had fallen over but then it became dense mountain terrain. We were all wondering if there was a point to this and asked if we could take a break - but surprisingly, Shaun said “No”.

There was next to no sunlight and the trees were getting shorter and shorter, there were more fallen branches and low ones too making the journey more and more difficult.  Shaun claimed he had been on this walk a lot of times but we weren’t sure whether to believe him because there was not even a visible trail! Then we came to a really hard bit where the mud was slippery and there was a steep slope - and right at the top of the slope was a cluster of thorn bushes, and no trees to grab onto. I was first but I kept slipping and couldn’t do it, but eventually I found another way round.

When we finally got to the campsite, after five hours of hiking, I was surprised!  I’d thought it would be a proper campsite with some facilities, like toilets and showers – but it was just a patch of grass by a path! Anyway I was really glad to have arrived and so relieved to take off my pack.   I wasn’t relieved for long though because as soon as the truck came we had to lug all the supplies up the path and to where we were going to pitch the tents.

A couple of people were assigned to work with Shaun to make the dinner and the rest of us had to pitch the tents. It was six o’clock when we had finished that so we had dinner, which was really good considering that they’d cooked it out in the middle of now where! After dinner Shaun told us about the history of Outward Bound which was established in World War II to toughen people up for the army!!!!

It was nice to finally snuggle into my sleeping bag on this, my third and last night at Outward Bound. I thought about some of the things I’d done; crawling through a narrow drain, jumping into freezing cold water, hiking up that mountain with that stupid backpack, having my sleep disturbed by people snoring! Not all of these things were fun at the time, but they were useful experiences. I enjoyed challenging myself, generally being more independent, and having these four days away from school, with my friends!

Camp Reflection

Before camp I thought that camp was worried of jumping into the cold water (so did my mum).  But at the same time I was really excited because I thought that we would do kayaking but instead I did rafting. In this picture I was a risk-taker because I took  risk which was to jump into the cold water and I was also a communicator because I needed to plan how we should make our raft out of 4 short bamboos, 4 long bamboos and 4 barrels because if we didn't communicate with each other then our boat will sink.

I changed throughout the camp because I walked through the hike farther than I thought I would.  Also I think I pushed my personal boundaries because I did things that I wouldn't normally do like go through a sewer (or tunnel), swinging around on a rope, walking in a place I've never came before at night, hike for about 3hrs, jump into the cold water in the start of December, navigate a place I've never came before.  I really enjoyed the hike because I was navigating the hike and I really liked that.  I learned that we shouldn't be negative or keep thinking that we will never be able to do it because if we do then we would be grim and wouldn't really want to do it.

I also liked sleeping in the tents even though we already did it last year (the tents were bigger than last year's and the sleeping bag was more comfortable).  I also kind of enjoyed the food while camping and I was happy that the cooks did their best to make our food.

Y6 CAMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!^_^
REFLECTION

When I went to camp i was so so excited because i thought
everything was cool/calm and easy as holding a thing but yet i was so so WRONG  because everything was hardcore except the games and land activities because on Tuesday when we were going to Outward Bound( Sai Kung) to camp we made our group name: THE STAlKERS and then we got to know our instructors Jeremy and Gladwin. so overall i thought the camp i did for four days was fun and very
fun and hardcore, it was fun because we got to do exciting stuff like go into cold water or make a raft and stuff like that and it was hardcore because you needed to pay a lot of attention and listen and walk a lot and move too. I enjoyed Y6 camp and i also learned to be independent and not be lazy......^

Jasper's Awesome Camp Experience 4/12-7/12

Jasper's Awesome Camp Experience Of Awesomeness :D

So In My Opinion, I Thought This Camp Was... Awesome! And Quite Cool.

The Thing I Liked About Camp Was All The Goals They Made For Us Is Quite Challenging And Hard. Basically In A Nutshell My Group"The Stalkers" Didn't Finish Anything, Because When We Were On The Raft We Built, It Was Unstable And Half Of The Raft Broke Apart While We Were Trying To Stable The Raft. On The Dragon Boat, Our Team Leader Gladwin Said That We Weren't Trying As Hard As The Other Group "Hotshots". And At Last Hiking, Some Of Us Were At The Back And Some Of Us Were At The Front And Gladwin Always Reminds Everyone That The First Rule Of Orientating Was To Always Stick Together No Matter What Happens But We Didn't Follow That Rule So That Even The Easiest Goal We Didn't Achieve. I Don't Know If It Was Us Or It Was The Coach But Everything Looked Like It Was Very Hard To Achieve For Us. But I Still Enjoyed It :D

Camp Reflection

This is a photo of  my group called: "The super happy rainbow fudge!"  all of us was in a line, and we were waiting for our certificates to be given. Rhino(our instructor)
gave us our certificates. The certificate was white with blue flowers  around the corners.

This is a photo of all of our instructors getting ready to give out the   certificates.

Camp Reflection
In camp, I think the best part of camp was Hiking.
Our group did a lot of land activity but we didn't really do much water activities.
Land activities: Camping, Hiking, Games, Making our own Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. And... EATING!!^o^
Water Activity: Rafting.
I liked Hiking because it was really fun, even though it was hard and we kept slipping and sliding. A lot of boys sliped ten times in a row. What I didn't like was: Camping, Games and for Rafting, I only liked when we actually rided the thingy that we made. The rest of Rafting was kinda... BORING!!

camp reflection:

on camp i didn't really learn a lot of things because we missed out on lots of the fun activity's.the only thing that i did do that was quite weird was crawling through a sewer and we got really dirty and...
to be continued
DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO FINISH IT

NO THANK YOU

SORRY:(

                                                             Getting ready for camping

On Wednesday we got up and we had to get everything ready for when we go camping/ tenting and hiking. first we packed our personal belongings and then we went down to the cage and got bag and a yellow rain jacket.
I choose this picture because it makes me laugh at the rain coats and it makes me feel like I was on track getting everything ready and done so I was kind of being principled. what I could of done on Wednesday was that I could of tried to help a bit more

Camp reflection

Photo This is a picture of me Alicia, Adelaide and Vidur. This camp has been one of the best so far the weather has been cold and the water was just freezing cold. I choose this picture because it was one of my favorite activity and a fun activity. This activity was really fun because you had a rope and we were a group so we all had to hold the rope and we had to get as much signatures from the leaders, but we could only get signatures by doing a drama dance singing or magic. we usually choose dance. Then we also could get more points by finding things on this map. So the first round are group one for the most points, but then the second round we came second.!! I think I was a risk taker because we had to do a solo night walk for 8 minutes, my group was the only one that had to do it because are leader believed in us and we told her that we believed in are self. So we were all scared of the dark it was 8:00 it was dark 1 person was crying! The point of the activity was to face a fears and we all did it because we believed in are self's. So we were all risk takers!!

                                                            Outward Bound Reflection

At Outward Bound it was my best camp I ever had in my life, I learnt lots of things that can help me in my life time like being patient or being a risk-taker and that is the learner profile.  The whole year 6 separated into groups with 2 or 1 instructor in each group.  Our team made up a name and we called our-self " "Mustard!".  Our 2 instructors are called Shaun and Shi-Wa.

I faced lots of challenges especially staying in the cold water.  It also made me think about people who don't have food and cold water.  It also made me think about how people don't have good hygiene.  I learnt allot from this camp.  I never thought I can learn that much

Rafting!
Rafting!

We made our group raft that had to float in the water! It was hard because of the heavy barrels and bamboo.
The first raft we made was a fail, and sunk into the water. Then the instructors helped us to build another raft which of course was better and could fit 12 people in it.

In the week during camp I did lots of exiting and fun things such as
Ice skating, Ocean Park, Did sports and went to museums.
My most memorable thing i did was going to Ocean Park in the
Hair Raser which can be a little risky for some people but that
is the most memorable thing i did.

Tai's Camp Reflection

  Y6 Outward Bound camp
December 4-7
By Tai Williams
Personally I think this was the best camp yet.
I really enjoyed all the activities because they were very challenging, especially the hiking. Lots of year 6 kids from the past had told me that it was be really bad: the food, the activities and the dorms. But the food was nice, the dorms were cool and the activities were amazing. The coaches were really nice but one coach, Rhino, creeped me out. my coaches names were Ashish and Calum. AShish was an Indian guy and Calum was Scottish.

Overall I don’t think any camp will outmatch the one we just had and if one does, it has got to be good. Like, really good.

OBHK And Jonathan- A Reflection

Outward Bound Or OBHK (As What I Will Refer The Camp To Be Called), Was by far the most best camp I have ever been to. In OBHK, we were seperated into groups of 12 with 2 instructors. Every group got to choose their team name, and our team came up with               "The Stalkers" for our group name.

Jonathan- First Row 3rd Person To The Right

When I first came to OBHK I was a bit nervous and excited at the same time. Why? Because I didn't know what to expect. But I was also excited because I wouldn't need to do homework I have to do everyday.

OBHK is just like real life or staying in a university. We go out each day to complete an activity.
In total our group did  activities. Our activities were- Rafting, Hiking, Camping, Dragon Boating And Building A Mascot For Our Group.
