Will, Jack, Edsard Reflectionundlolop

In the past weeks we have been working on a garageband project with a dance and drums to go with it. I think that we have done well on it because I think it sounded very good and the drum sounded in time with the rhythm that we chose. Ne

Friso & Tai

In the past weeks we have been working on a garage band. To improve it we added a dance which was fun although we had trouble creating it. Before we edited it, we had a mash-up of different styles of music. But it didn't work out so now we only have one style. At this stage we are rehearsing what we have so far. Next week week we are going to show what we have done and everyone is very excited about our performance!!

Camp Reflection by Lucan Flynn [6H]

The camp was really good and I couldn't imagine year 6 without it.

We first arrived at the base and it was loud like crazy. everyone was so excited and I could not wait to see my group. All the kids grouped up we the instructors and listened to the big boss speech. The instructor were Gladwin and Jeremy. We then went outside to to a group photo

Then are group got changed into our swimming togs, met at the beach and started to make a raft.

That was one of my favorite activities although we struggled it was challenging.

After we finished making our raft we went ahead and had lunch. All of us helped each other and made the table. and cleaned up after all of us.
Over all it was really fun and I had a great time with new friends and teachers
But Mr Heggie still had a bad hair day just saying

Camp reflection by Enoch

Day 1

On the first day of camp I took the bus to OBHK and I felt excited but it didn't turn out very well.I was in the group called Messner and my instructors were Michal and Sam . First of all our group had a few issues because some people did the wrong things or were being lazy. We were sent to our rooms and we had to make our beds and unpack our suitcases. I was in room S1 with Dicky,Kabelan,Chester,Yekin, Dipthanshu,Allen,Will,Cameron,

Matteao,empty bed no.1,empty bed no.2 and ME!!!!!!!!!!

When I went to bed that night i felt annoyed that we didn't do any water activities  while Hillary did. :(

Day 2

I woke up at 5:30 and I heard some people talking in the room. I had a terrible night and did not sleep well.

Aound 6.15, Dippy told us to come with him and see if the girls were awake and sure enough they were! The windows were made of frosted glass so they got some water and wrote GO AWAY BOYS!!!!!!!! so my friends and I stayed there and talked about random stuff.

We had breakfast and it felt weird to see everyone in normal clothes instead of the usual uniforms.

We did some games like one where we had to get every one through a rope in the shortest amount of time we got 35 seconds.

We also played a game where we  were only allowed to say yadda and we had to hold stools on two legs in a circle and move around by keeping the stools in two legs and we could only touch one stool at a time!!!!!

After that we changed and it started raining heavily and we crawled through a sewer that was about 80cm in height and length!!!

Then we had to swim in the freezing water while it was raining but it wasn't that bad.

Day 3

Today we had to take only a few things and took a bus to a camp site. We then set up a tent and went on a 5 hour hike in Ma On Shan. It was a lot of fun! One boy thought he was going to die. He shouted  "I AM on 10% OF MY ENERGY ! I'M GOING TO DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Day 4

we just packed our suitcases and took the bus back to school. I was a bit sad to leave after such a fun few days.

Camp Reflection

Camp Reflection
I am Matthew Sifontes and this is my camp reflection of when I went to camp in Y6. now before I get into perfect detail let me get in the base of things. In my eyes came was the most fun I've ever had but for those fore days I missed my brother and my parents. But it was still so much fun. Mostly because i got to hang out with my friends and made some to. OK  now I'm going to get into more detail of what happened. we had a lot of activities like building rafts, doing hikes, finding areas around the camp and a lot more. My Favorite was the hike and on that hike I really enjoyed it. because those are the things I like to do. There were so many things I liked about camp and it was just a lot fun. Over all I had a extremely fun time and I hope I can go back soon.
camp reflection part 2 continued Enoch
stinky and  we got junk in our cloths but other than that i didn't learn any thing.
:P :) :(

Camp Reflection

Camp Reflection

Camp or, OBHK, was excellent! We did many fun (some annoying) activities! In my group, we didn't do the rafting or kayaking... BUT, we did other fun things like, crawling down a tunnel! We took many risks like, *flashback sound* when I was hiking Ma On Shan, 702m high, my ankle started 'cramping' (38 days ago)    but I still carried on (it was fine, don't worry).  We were also caring too, because *flashback sound*  one of our group members, helped me got a walking stick when I was hiking and somebody else in the group guided me (by telling where to place your foot) and so after that, it made us open-minded.  We were also communicators because *flashback sound* the instructor, Michal (from Slovakia, Bratislava, it's capital city) told us we have to keep the stools only on two legs and do it in a circle, we were only allowed to say "Yadda.", which makes it harder.  We managed to do this in about approx. NINE times... Our team was also knowledgeable because *flashback sound* we thought of a solution of finishing the 'yadda' game by saying 'yadda' four times dramatically indicating we are about to switch chairs, thus, also making us thinkers.  I learnt how to make your own tents, how to push somebody up a pontoon and how to communicate in a awkward language.  So, after this speech, this makes me a reflective for remembering this moment.

We're READY for camp!!
(I'm in the middle!)

Ready for a well DESERVED meal!!

          camp reflection!

I think camp was a blast a bit edgy some times but it was fun. My team was called Mandela we didn't want to change the name of our group Mandela is a cool name.

Anyway I was in a group with" Anya,Harrison,Anwen,Daniela,Harry,Will,Carol,
Jade,Sal and Ben. Are group leaders were called ShaShi(no space in between)and Marcus. My favorite activity was making the raft, I didn't like ridding it because Anwen kept pushing Daniela back and Daniela pushed me back so I nearly fell of the bamboo into the water, the water was terribly cold it was like 2 degrees!!(that is cold right!)

Over all I loved camp it was a great hit but I was happy to go home at the end of it:)

Camp reflection by Max Yuen 6H

A crazy game of hockey here with brooms, dustpans and dirt. I liked year 5 camp better than year 6 camp, but I still thought that this camp was good. My favorite part of camp was hiking to the camp site at Wong Shek Pier. The part that amazed me the most was seeing a monkey at Wong Shek Pier. I was proud of myself when I found out that I could finish the final challenges easily with my whole group. Next time, I would try to improve my group work so that I can solve team challenges a lot more easily.

Camp Reflection

I was a risk-taker because I did the solo night walk.
I was a communicator because I shared some ideas.
I was open-minded because I didn't want to do the solo night walk but when I finished I was proud of myself.
One attitude was cooperation because we all need to help pitch the tent up.
I liked playing Monkey ball and Ninja because they're fun. I didn't like the water sports because it was freezing of sleeping in the tent because it was uncomfortable. Next time I would remember where I put my things.

Year 6 Camp Reflection
4th-7th of December

I was in the group Hillary and my instructors name was Rhino. Rhino was very mean but I understood what he was trying to do. I thought the activities were great especially the rafting. The food was horrible apart from breakfast and the lunch on friday. The dorms were great the showers were so hot and my dorm was massive. I personally think camp was great apart from the food and I thank Rhino very much.

Outward Bound Camp Reflection
By Carol Lam (6H)

Camp at Outward Bound was very different to the other camps I had been to. For a start, we didn't see our teachers that often. Instead, we were with our instructors and our teachers popped up every now and then, sometimes at surprisingly early hours.

Another thing that was different was that we were more reliant on ourselves. For example, after our camping trip, we had to wash our tents and water bottles etc. by ourselves. This helped me become more independent.

Also, this camp was very demanding and challenging, both mentally and physically. The activities were sometimes hard to do, such as the four and a half hour hike, which was hard to do because we had to walk in mud and carry very heavy backpacks. Many of the activities were also mentally demanding. I had to push myself to carry on, such as on the night hike.

The sections below further detail my experiences and feelings on camp.

Day 1: 4th December

The first day of camp had an unsurprising undercurrent of excitement and everyone was talking about camp.

The road to camp was slightly rocky and bumpy so that transporting our suitcases was hard. At the entrance of Outward Bound there was a cattle gate, which meant we had to go through a small door to get to camp.

At camp, we first went to the main hall where an instructor called Tom told us about the spirit of Outward Bound. We then took a group photo with the Outward Bound logo.

Our team, Mandela, with one of our instructors, Marcus.

After the group photo, we all had lunch. We then collected a pillowcase and two bedsheets for our beds. We had to make our own beds. I think this helped to train our independence and teamwork because while some people completed their beds quickly, others required help but in the end, everyone completed this successfully.

After our successful making-of-beds, we walked down to a rope course. We were extremely excited. Before we did the rope course, we had to complete a challenge . Marcus had a rope and we all had to jump rope at the same time. This didn't work and I think the reason it didn't work was because we weren't helping each other.

Our rope activity was swinging on a rope from one platform to another. But first, we needed to get the rope. To get the rope, we first tried to throw things at it. That was not successful so I thought of using a shoe tied to a jacket and after a few tries it worked. We managed to get the rope because we reflected on what didn't work before and then we thought of another solution.

The swinging part was exciting. We put one foot in a loop at the bottom of the rope and our hands were grabbing the rope. We all wanted to go again but there wasn't enough time. I thought I was a risk taker when I did this because I had never done it before and I tried it even though I was scared.

Around 5:30 pm, we assembled on a raised platform called the Black Top. We had to do a mini-olympics. This consisted of a few events such as hopping with a (clean) slipper between your knees to cross the Black Top and running to an oar, spinning around with your head on it 6 times and then running back to your team. I was a communicator because I talked to and cheered on the people in my group. I was also caring because I encouraged the people in my group.

The penultimate thing we did on this day was packing the things we would need for our hike the next day. An example of the things we packed were sleeping bags, utensils and backpacks.

Our last activity before we returned to our dorms was to make and decorate an envelope, and to write a reflection of our day.

Day 2 : 5th December

The first thing we did was plan our hike to the campsite where we would spend the night. We worked out a route, which ended at Tai Tam Campsite. Next, we packed a group barrel with all the things we would need while camping out and our own backpacks with the few things we would need on the hike.
We took a number 94 bus to the starting place of our hike.

The instructors and the members of our group waiting for bus number 94.

We started the hike at 11 am and arrived at Tai Tam campsite at around 3:30pm. At the campsite we had to reflect on what we learned on the hike.

We had to put up the tents in mixed groups. I had to be a thinker because I had to think about how to build the tent really well.

After dinner, we went for a night hike. One by one we had to walk up a hill even though we couldn't see anything. We only stopped when we heard Marcus say "We're here," I thought I had to be a risk-taker because this was a scary experience and I had to overcome my fears to do it.

Day 3 : 5th December

We took a bus back to Outward Bound. When we got back, we had to wash the dishes, scrub the water bottles, tents and backpacks and polish the burners. That taught me to be more independent because normally I don't wash things at home but at camp I had to.

                                              Cleaning our supplies

The next activity I did was rock climbing. At first I felt nervous because I was scared I was going to fall. After I completed the activity, I knew that my friends could help me when I was doing activities that required strategy and teamwork. From this activity, I found out that my fear of falling off a climbing wall had been overcome.

After that, we designed a raft out of 4 hollow barrels, 4 big bamboo stems and 4 little bamboo stems. This made me think about safety and engineering. When we had designed our raft, we built it out of our materials. I learned how to tie two new knots and I think that part of our success in building the raft was that we all worked cooperatively without any arguments.

Day 4 : 6th December

On the last day we packed our bags and cleaned up our dorms. This trained my independence too because normally at home I don't sweep and mop the floor.

Our last challenge was to navigate a maze that Marcus and Shashe had designed. We had to be thinkers and use elimination to work out the path. We also had to be communicators because the ones who had already navigated the maze told theirs friends the route so everyone got across. Our reward was ice cream! That was totally unexpected because we didn't even know that Outward Bound had ice cream.

The last thing we did on camp was share our experiences and receive our certificates. Everyone agreed that this camp was both exciting and demanding.

I had a wonderful experience at camp. I learned new things, overcame fears and now I feel like I can do even really hard things if I try hard. Camp was great and I am grateful for the chance to experience this.
